Philip Shaw, multi-award winning winemaker and two time winner of the highly contested International Wine & Spirit Competition Winemaker of the Year, has been making wines in Australia for over four decades and approaches each aspect of winemaking with a healthy mix of innovation and unrelenting attention to detail. Philip Shaw Wines are made only from fruit grown in Philip’s own forty six hectare Koomooloo vineyard – a cool climate site rising to analtitude of 900m. Shaw purchased the vineyard in 1988 and planted the first grapes the following year. It is a truly family business with Philip’s son, Damian Shaw, being responsible for Global Sales. The Shaw philosophy is that winemaking begins in the vineyard and many viticultural practices, including leaf plucking, fruit thinning, harvesting and sorting are carried out by hand. The aim of the finished wine is to offer elegance and purity of varietal character.
