100% Pinot Noir

The 2010 vintage was an exceptional year, the short flowering season yielding to a long warm autumn, ripening the grapes with intensity and flavour. Harvested in late April, hand-picked and sorted in small bunches, the grapes were cold pressed and left on the skins for 3-5 days to achieve balance of colour and tannin. Inoculated with natural yeasts the wine was fermented and then barrelled in French oak (35% new) for 10 months.

Tasting Note
The relatively warm area of Central Otago where grapes are grown gives a generous structure with a medium body to this lightly scented Pinot. Flavours of red cherries and berries, with a hint of spices and plums. Texture is smooth; very light and very well integrated new oak aromas persist on the long, pleasant finish.

Serving Suggestions
Exceptional pairing for truffle-based preparations, such as truffle risotto, which brings out sweetness of the fruit and light oak character. Lovely match for mild or creamy cheeses.
